We are pleased to announce a change to our Period 5 Thursday Study session, effective from 19th February 2026.
Historically, Year 13 students have been permitted to leave the school grounds during their study period. This year, we are extending this trial to our Year 12 students, allowing them the same opportunity to engage in off-site study or other constructive learning activities. By extending this to Year 12, we acknowledge your maturity and provide a head start on the self-management skills as senior students.
Study Options
During Period 5 on Thursdays, year 12 students may choose one of the following:
- Off-Site Study: Leave the grounds for independent study/ learning. If you choose this option, you may leave the school grounds once dismissed from period 4 at the start of lunchtime at 1.35 pm
- On-Site Study: Use the senior study area, atriums, library, or subject tutorial room if a teacher has arranged this.
Conditions
To ensure this trial is successful for everyone, please note the following:
- School Values: We expect students to demonstrate the school values in their conduct during the study period. If a student’s behaviour falls short of demonstrating our school values, then this privilege will be removed.
- Bus Students: You must return to school by the scheduled pick-up time.
- Accountability: This is a trial period. Its continuation depends on students using this time responsibly and constructively. This means being accountable for your actions.
- The school reserves the right to require any student to remain on campus. For example, this may occur for assemblies, group practice or other organised activity.
- Car licences: If students are travelling in private vehicles, they must comply with their licence conditions and not transport other students.
- School uniform must be worn when at school or when departing from school.
