It has been a busy start to the term with the bus shelter project and a trip to Ara. The students have completed some framing for the ceiling linings to be fitted, and installed the roofing iron.

To make sure the roofing iron could be installed safely, we set up a scaffold area around the outside of the roof framing. We are very fortunate to have a local roofing contractor, Jeff Neale from Roofit Canterbury, come and help the students install the roof, and give them a taste of what it would be like working on a building site. We have also completed a trip to Ara to show the students the facilities and work areas that are options for them in the future.

Jeff has helped with many of the building course projects over the years, sharing his knowledge and skills and taking the extra time to teach our students some valuable skills.
