“Dancing is like dreaming with your feet!” (Constanze Mozart)
We had our 5th evening trip this year to Christchurch to experience live, original, professional contemporary dance – Home, Land & Sea by NZ choreographer Moss Te Ururangi Patterson (+ 2 works by Aussie & Irish choreographers) performed by six dancers from Royal NZ Ballet & six dancers from NZ Dance Company. It was lovely to, once again, be joined by some parents and siblings too!
This was preceded by our 2nd workshop with Royal NZ Ballet dancer and educator Lauren Byrne, practising Ballet technique and learning a dance sequence from Home, Land & Sea.
A huge thank you and congratulations to all of our brilliant dance students on a very successful Dance Showcase on 21st August, Paint The Town Red! The show presented an array of performances in different dance styles, including Bollywood, Contemporary, Jazz, Highland, Ballet, Hip Hop, Tap, and Musical Theatre Dance, with many being student-choreographed. The show also featured our amazing Wearable Arts class student designers displaying their creations in a Fashion Show, with their models strutting their stuff on the ‘catwalk’. Thanks to Mx Goldstein and our wonderful MCs, Zander and Maya.
I am so proud of all of our students’ mahi, composure, and creativity… What an inspiration to us all!
All without a year 10 or senior dance classes running this year!!!
