We have now received official notification from the PPTA (secondary teachers’ union) that a full-day strike will take place on Thursday, 23 October.

As a result, Kaiapoi High School will be closed for instruction on Thursday. We will not have sufficient teaching staff available to safely operate the school on that day.

If you are unable to make alternative arrangements, we can provide limited supervision for a small number of students. If this is required, please reply to the email that has gone home, with your child’s name(s) by 3pm, Wednesday 22 October, so that we can plan accordingly.

Please note that buses for secondary school students will not operate on Thursday. Students requiring supervision will need to make alternative travel arrangements.

We will notify whānau immediately if the strike action is called off or if any further information becomes available. Updates will be provided via email, the School Facebook page, and the SchoolBridge app.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Ngā mihi mahana,
Jason Reid
Principal — on behalf of the Kaiapoi High School Board of Trustees
