Korfball SISS Champs:

What an incredible weekend of Korfball at the SISS Senior Mixx Tournament at Nga Puna Wai!

With four teams representing our school over two full days, our teams showed talent, teamwork, and growth. With a combined total of 486 baskets scored and six games per team, our teams gave it their all.

Congratulations to all of our teams.

Team 1 (Senior Gold Team)

Back-to-back champions! Undefeated the whole tournament and came out on top with an amazing finals win against St Margaret’s/Chch Boys. You all played a great tournament, and this team has so much talent and is amazing to watch.

Team 2 – (Senior Silver Team)

Finished 7th, showing great effort and teamwork throughout the weekend. Especially light on numbers at the end of the tournament, this team never gave up.

Team 3 – (Senior Pink Team)

Finished 3rd after an awesome comeback after halftime in the play-off to get the win over Burnside High School. This team has a great understanding of the game and were just awesome, with the majority of the team just Year 11.

Team 4 – (Senior Orange Team)

Finished 14th, with so much growth and development over the two days, it was great to watch.

Korfball truly is a sport where every player has to contribute, and it was fantastic to see that in action across all of our teams. Well done to you all!

Friday Night Competition:

This term has been huge with eight teams playing in the Mixx Friday Night Interschool Korfball Competition at Nga Puna Wai, a total of 85 students getting involved. It has been awesome to see Korfball growing more and more each year, and the mixed team sport so popular at our school.

A BIG Congratulations to all of our teams.

Our three Junior teams

You all did so well and it was great seeing all the new students giving it a go, making new friends, and having fun with the year 10s leading their teams.

Our five Senior teams

Forming your own teams with your friends is a huge reason why Korfball is so popular, and it shows in the vibe and teamwork on the court.

Special congratulations to our Senior Gold Team, who took home the A Grade title after an awesome finals win on Friday night. This team has so much talent. They have been playing together pretty much since Korfball started at our school, and are just awesome to watch.

Thank you to the parents who have helped transport each week, and a special thank you to Molly Kay (teacher) who has given her time to the Silver team. It has also been great seeing a supportive sideline of parents each week at the games, so thank you for your support.
