On Friday 20th March, six keen dance students attended the Royal New Zealand Ballet’s thrilling adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth at Christchurch’s Isaac Theatre Royal.
Choreographed by Alice Topp, the mesmerising movement tells the story of ambition and manipulation, accompanied by Christopher Gordon’s full orchestral and heavy metal score with live string octet. It inexorably drives Macbeth and his Lady Macbeth to a conclusion that is as inevitable as it is devastating.
It was a beautiful and powerful show that brought us to our feet in the curtain calls.
We were also very lucky to have a lovely usher move us from row W to row L so our wonderful students could enjoy the show, and the intricately painted ceiling of the theatre, even more.
Our students represented our school admirably, and huge thanks to our caregivers for providing transport.
Miss Kate Hamilton
