On Monday, 16 June, 14 of our Peer Support Leaders made a special visit to Pegasus School – a familiar place for many, as it’s where their own educational journeys began.

The leaders were warmly welcomed by 65 enthusiastic Year 8 students. To break the ice, the Peer Support leaders introduced themselves by sharing fond memories of their time at Pegasus, with school camps proving to be a firm favourite. During the break, many couldn’t resist revisiting the playground – especially the exciting new equipment.

Throughout the visit, the Peer Support Leaders ran a series of adventure-based learning games designed to build confidence and encourage teamwork. The gym hall buzzed with energy as students embraced each challenge with enthusiasm and laughter, clearly enjoying the experience.

Thirteen of the 14 Peer Support Leaders will likely be welcoming these Year 8 students to Kaiapoi High School in 2026. This visit marked the beginning of a valuable connection – laying the foundation for a supportive transition and a positive start to their high school journey.
