The sun was shining, the energy was high, and the competition was fierce at this year’s School Athletics Day on Friday 7th March! Students from all year levels came together to showcase their skills, cheer on their friends, and enjoy a fantastic day of athletics sport, and school spirit.

From the very first event, it was clear that our students were ready to give it their all. The 100m sprints saw some incredible finishes, while the hammer throw cage was a hub of excitement as students threw to new personal bests. The shot put and discus competitions highlighted strength and precision, and the high jump had the crowd holding their breath with every attempt.

One of the day’s biggest highlights was the 100m sprint finals. Students ran with determination and pace; they brought the growing crowd to their feet with thrilling finishes. School spirit was on full display, with students cheering on their classmates and willing them on.

A special shout-out goes to all the teachers and student volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly. Their enthusiasm and organisation ensured that every event was well-managed and students had the best possible experience.

Congratulations to all our competitors, whether you finished first or simply gave it your best shot. It was fantastic to see so many students getting involved, having fun, and making memories. Celebrating excellence, we had some students break records in the high jump, hammer throw, and javelin, making it a very successful day for some of our athletes.

And a final congratulations to those students selected to represent our school at the Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Athletics Champs: Lily Morrison, Sienna Kiesanowski, Sophie Jolly, Elina Seuamuli, Makayla Krahagen, Cooper Jolly, Jack Brown, Ethan Watson, Lucas D’Abbs, Eshan Raja, Charlie Pockson and Tiani Stanley.

Until next year – keep training and stay active!
