As we finish a year of sports at KHS, we congratulate all of our students who contribute to the success of our sporting opportunities. Your commitment to your team and how you represented KHS proudly is a real credit, and in the sports office, it has been an honour to have been part of your sporting journey this year.  We are very grateful to a large number of coaches and managers, as we have had teachers, staff, students, parents, and members of our community involved with our teams. We definitely could not offer all of our sporting opportunities without your help, and we cannot thank you enough.

To our Year 13 students, we thank you for the contribution you have given to your chosen sports and teams.  We wish you all the best for the future, and hopefully we see you around on the sports grounds in years to come – we hope you cherish the memories that you take away from being involved in sport at KHS.

It has been great seeing so many students supporting our local sporting fixtures out on the Touch fields, at the courts playing Twilight Netball, at the Basketball courts coaching, and refereeing the Friday Night Primary School Competition or playing in the social competition. Have fun and keep up the good work.

We wish you all a happy and safe holiday season, and look forward to KHS Sport in 2026.

Korfball SISS Jnr Mixx Tournament

We had an awesome weekend of Korfball on 1st & 2nd November with three teams playing in the SISS Mixx Tournament held at Nga Puna Wai last weekend. It was a great opportunity to grow their knowledge and skills of the game, and especially for our Year 9 team to play their first tournament. It was a great weekend of Korfball for everyone.

Our Junior Gold team finished 7th with some close battles and high-scoring games, playing well as a team. Thank you to Dan Keating for coaching this team.

Our Junior Purple team had some tough competition in their pool with competitive games that could have gone either way. Thank you to Albie Gash for coaching this team.

Our Junior Blue Year 9 team improved so much from their first game, as this is their first season for most of them of trying a new sport. They were all so keen and positive, regardless of the score. Thank you to Izzy Clark and James Harrison for coaching this team.

Volleyball Jnr Canterbury Champs

This year, we had three teams enter the Canterbury Volleyball Jnr Champs, which was held over three days at the Nga Puna Wai & Pioneer Stadium. It was the first time that we have had a competitive Jnr Boys team entered, which was exciting as they have been training hard all year, along with our Jnr A Girls & Yr 9 Girls Teams. All teams were competitive in their grades, with some close battles out on court and great rallies, which made for an exciting three days of Volleyball. Congratulations to Makayla Kragahan who was named in the Tournament Team. This was a great achievement. Well done to our Jnr A Girls who placed 6th. This tournament was valuable as this was a decider on their ranking for the SISS Tournament.

A big thank you to our coaches who have given so much time to these teams this year: Will Baxter (staff) – Jnr A Girls, Cam Millwood (staff) – Yr 9 Girls, and Zion Pitama-Hughes (student) – Jnr A Boys.

Korfball Friday Night Mixx Competition

Last week marked the final round of Korfball for the year, with nine of our teams competing at Nga Puna Wai. It has been a real pleasure to watch our students play alongside their friends in this mixed team sport, with their skill level and understanding of the game continuing to grow each week.

Congratulations to our Senior Gold and Senior Silver Teams, who battled it out against each other in the A Grade final. The Gold Team secured the win in what was a fantastic showcase of KHS talent. This result is especially meaningful as the Gold Team is made up entirely of Year 13 students who have been instrumental in driving the growth and success of Korfball at our school. Well done also to our Senior Purple Team, who took out the B Grade final. Congratulations to all teams who have represented KHS so positively throughout the season, and to those students who kindly stepped in to support teams when numbers were short.

A big thank you to all the parents who assisted with transport each week. Your support is greatly appreciated. A special mention must also go to Molly Kay (staff), who has supported the Senior Silver Team all year. We are extremely grateful for her ongoing support.
