A warm welcome to our new staff members!

It is with great pleasure that we welcome two new staff members, Remington Evans-Brakey and Roisin Cassidy, to our kura in 2026. Across Aotearoa, schools have faced challenges in securing teachers due to ongoing supply shortages. However, we are proud to share that Kaiapoi High School has once again secured a full team of skilled, passionate, and knowledgeable educators.

To our new staff—nau mai, haere mai! Thank you for choosing Kaiapoi High School. We are excited to have you on board and look forward to seeing the impact you will make. Together, we will continue to create an environment where every student thrives.

Ngā mihi,

Jason Reid, Principal

Remington Evans-Brakey

Kia ora, my name is Remington Evans-Brakey. I will be joining the Social Sciences department. I specialise in History and Social Studies, but will be teaching some Business Studies and Commerce this year also! I am looking forward to building connections with staff, students, whānau, and the wider community. I have a Bachelor of Arts in History and Education, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, and a Masters of Teaching and Learning.

Outside of teaching, you will find me in the mountains. I enjoy hiking, hunting, fishing, mountain biking, and exploring new places. When I’m not doing that, I enjoy wood carving, spending time with friends and whanau, and re-watching the Harry Potter movies. Looking forward to the year ahead!

Roisin Cassidy

Kia ora everybody, I’m Roisin Cassidy. I’m a first-year teacher and super excited to be joining the team at Kaiapoi High as a Geography and Social Sciences teacher!

I grew up in Christchurch and have just completed a Masters of Teaching and Learning at the University of Canterbury. You’ll often find me lost in a thrilling book or movie, keeping fit while exploring our beautiful Aotearoa, or a mixture of both! I have family and friends all around the world, so I love to travel when given the chance.

I’m looking forward to kicking off my teaching journey with some amazing staff and students here at Kaiapoi High!
