From 27–29 May, 53 Year 12 students and four staff members travelled to Aoraki/Mt Cook for a three-day Geography field trip. The trip provided students with valuable opportunities to support their classroom learning while experiencing one of New Zealand’s most spectacular environments.
Students completed a range of fieldwork activities, including environmental observations, data collection, and geographic investigations. They also attended informative talks from a Department of Conservation (DOC) ranger, gaining insight into the unique natural and cultural significance of the area.
One of the highlights of the trip was visiting Lake Tasman, where many students bravely took a plunge into the icy glacial waters.
The weather was incredibly warm for this time of year, which made the outdoor activities even more enjoyable. Most importantly, the students represented the school exceptionally well throughout the trip. Their behaviour, enthusiasm, and willingness to participate were outstanding, and they should be very proud of the way they conducted themselves.
Overall, the trip was a great success and provided students with memorable experiences and valuable learning opportunities.
