We have now made it to the end of Term 2, a very busy term. We have seen Music Performance nights, Manu Kōrero, huge amounts of sports, cultural visits, and so much more. The winter season is now in full swing, and our senior students only have 14 weeks until they go on exam leave in November. 14 weeks will go very quickly, so it is important to set goals in order to reach desired targets.
Our CACTUS group for Term 2 finished on Friday with their Longest Day. Seeing students pulling a firetruck into school to end a term of perseverance is always amazing. CACTUS will be back in 2027, so keep an eye out in Term 1 when the sign-ups are released.
This term, we will not be sending reports at the end of the term. Reports will come out at the end of week one next term as we have implemented changes in how we report on Maths and English. Over the next six months, you will see reporting changes filter through across all subjects as nationwide reporting changes are implemented.
Our Production of “Into the Woods” is nearing its performance phase in week two of next term. This promises to be an excellent show with loads of talent on display. The link for tickets is below.

Next term, we will be implementing the Kindo platform for bill payments. This is widely used by our contributing schools and provides a much more user-friendly experience. More information will come out on how to get linked into this.
In Term 3, there are some key dates of events coming up. We have our mid-term break on Friday August 21st, followed by a Teacher Only Day on Monday August 24th, as our staff have professional development to train and prepare for the implementation of the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum – Te Mātaiaho.
On Thursday August 6th, we have our Subject Selection Evening for years 9, 10, 11 and 12. We will spend time educating students on the selection process as we are building our timetable for 2027. As parents and caregivers, we ask you to make sure you spend time discussing subjects with students to make sure the right pathway is chosen.
There have been a few issues recently with students leaving the school grounds during the school day. Only Year 13 students are allowed to leave the grounds, and all other year levels must remain on site. If a student has an appointment or something else important, please contact the office so we are aware.
Jason Reid will be back on deck as Principal in Term 3 after his Term 2 sabbatical. A big thank you to Sam Creed and Ashleigh Fowler, who have stepped into the Deputy Principal role and have both done an amazing job.
