We are now halfway through our winter sports season, and it is great to see the amount of student participation, improvement and enjoyment each week.
Our Winter Sports will continue into Term 3 with the same sports and existing teams. All sport starts back again the first week back, with the exception of Small Bore starting week 2.
We look forward to sharing our winter sports teams next month.

Our week of sport is busy and we are very grateful to the staff and parents who give our students the opportunity each week. We are also very grateful to the Kaiapoi Working Men’s Club for welcoming and supporting/coaching our students playing Table Tennis and Pool.

SPORT COACHES/REFEREES/UMPIRES
Thank you to the following students, Lexi Gilmore, Hunter Tapp, Dan Ecclestone & Marcus O’Donnell, who have helped out with the primary schools’ Friday winter sports programme over the last six weeks. Kaiapoi North School was very thankful for our students’ help. They all did a great job, and we have received some really nice feedback, which is always great to hear.
CROSS COUNTRY & ROAD RACE
We had a small group of students who represented our school at the School Sport Canterbury Cross Country, which was held at Ascot Park, and Road Race, which was held at Hagley Park, both on a beautiful Autumn day.
Well done to Sophie Jolly, Cooper Jolly, Issac Hutchison & Ben Jackman for giving their all and representing our school proudly.
SENIOR BOYS’ RUGBY
Following on from our Buller Exchange, our Senior Boys had another opportunity and travelled to Sheffield Domain to compete in a rugby tournament, playing four 20-minute games against Buller High School, Westland High School, Darfield High School & Mt Hutt College.
This was another great opportunity for the boys to represent our school, and they showed great teamwork, which was great to watch. It was also great to see a sideline of supporters who travelled to support the team.
Well done boys, on a great day of Rugby!
GIRLS’ RUGBY
Our Girls’ Rugby team is currently competing in the Canterbury Rugby Miles Toyota Cup.
The girls recently took on Rangiora High School in a match that also doubled as the Kearney Cup game. It was a hard-fought game finishing in a 24-all draw, with both teams showing plenty of determination and skill throughout. As the holders of the Kearney Cup, the draw meant that KHS retained the trophy for another year.
Well done to all the players on their efforts, and we look forward to seeing the team continue to grow and compete throughout the remainder of the Miles Toyota Cup season.
